What's in a Name?

First, read an overview of the ministry on our homepage. Now, you may be wondering why our ministry is called "Prison in the Wild". Here's what we were thinking.

1.  Jesus is wild about prisoners! (Matthew 25:36b & 40b) "I was in prison and you came to Me." "Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was Me---you did it directly to Me."

2.  Jesus is wild about all of His creation! John 3:16 "For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He (even) gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Jesus, shall not perish, (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life."

 3.  We are just wild about Jesus! In Mark 12:30-31 We are called to love Jesus, "with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, and then to love our neighbor as we love ourselves." This is love in the wild!

4.   The "wild" can also be seen as our everyday lives. We desire to stand with local prison chaplains, wardens and workers who are involved in the day to day operations at prisons and correctional facilities. It has been our experience over decades that the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of these brave, dedicated men and women can get lost in the shuffle of everyday life (aka the "wild").

Paul admonishes us in Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ.”

We believe the key strategy of the enemy in our frenetic culture is to distract believers, and to deter them from taking up God's interests of fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves. We believe the Lord’s servant heart for the broken is revealed in John 13:14-17 “If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.  For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master; neither is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him.  If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them."   This is how we take the battle to the enemy!

See clearly, and see the prison that exists in the wild. A prison that Jesus can set you free from!

Our mission is to transform the existing penal system into a system of justice for all.

Logo from 2014 - Fall, 2018

This logo was created to show how Jesus stands out in the midst of the wild situations in life.

Logo during 2017

We had a simple logo during a brief period in 2017 when we were looking to change the website to look more modern.

Logo during 2017

We had a lantern logo during a brief period during 2017 when we were working on alternative design ideas. It captured the light that we share, the "seek and find" metaphor of the gospel, and the idea that we venture into the dark, unreached areas of the world in our ministry.  This logo was generously donated and designed by Stacia Joy, all rights reserved.
